Meet and Greet with Dive Briefing
Shark cage divers and boat-based viewers meet during the early or late morning at the office in central Mossel Bay. Remember to eat a light breakfast, as seasickness should be avoided. Coffee, tea and juice are served on arrival. Firstly, indemnity forms are signed whilst payments are made. Secondly, whilst you enjoy refreshments, a detailed dive briefing is given to passengers pre-tour. Regulations to remember are staying seated whilst the boat is in motion, in addition to not sticking any body parts outside the cage whilst cage diving.

Destination Seal Island
Its vibrant sea life of diverse fish, seals, whales, penguins, other sea birds, dolphins, the occasional orca, and, of course, a large number of Great White Sharks, subsequently makes Mossel Bay a very desired marine area. Mossel Bay has the most accessible Great White Sharks in South Africa, therefore, making it an extremely favourable shark cage diving destination. The anchoring and shark cage diving point is Seal Island, a mere 10-minute boat ride from the harbour. Most importantly, the island is home to over 2500 cape fur seals and is a popular hunting ground for the ocean’s most feared predator, the Great White Shark.

Cage Diving and Boat-Based Viewing
Shark Cage Diving and Viewing in Mossel Bay can be enjoyed by the entire family. To clarify, children under 18 need to be accompanied by adults. Children 12 and upwards can join in the cage diving adventure. Because the great white sharks are surface feeders, Boat-based Viewing can be enjoyed by all passengers onboard. The great white sharks are very close to the surface and as a result, makes for fantastic viewing for those deciding not to enter the water.

Mossel Bay Shark Diving Boat, Cage And Gear
The boat is a custom-built catamaran, specifically for Great White Shark tours. Once the boat has anchored, the 3.3-meter cage is submerged from the back of the boat. The cage is floating and tied to the side of the boat. After that, 6 Divers at a time enter the cage with 5ml wetsuits on. Gear includes a hoodie, wetsuit and booties. No scuba diving equipment is needed because we use the breath-hold method; therefore, no scuba diving qualification is needed. During winter, the water averages at 21 degrees Celsius, whilst summer brings colder water at 18 degrees Celsius.
Weather-related cancellations

What To Bring Shark Cage Diving In Mossel Bay
The sun will be beating down on you during your time on the boat. We suggest that you bring a hat and apply sunscreen to protect yourself. It’s always nice to have a camera or a GoPro to document the day. The night before your tour and again an hour before it departs, if you’re prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking seasickness medication. You’ll want to bring your swimsuit to wear underneath your wetsuit and a warm jacket or hooded sweatshirt for the cold on the way back to land, as it can get very chilly on the water, even when it’s sunny.
What We Provide
Everything else is taken care of for you, so you can just relax and enjoy the experience. Everything included in this package is diving/shark viewing from the cage (wetsuits & all other needed dive equipment), a light lunch/snacks/refreshments, and afternoon tea on the way back to land. A shark diving certificate will also be provided at no cost to you as a memento of your experience.

It was honestly one of the most unbelievable experiences of my life. Our driver, Jerome (aka Globe), was incredible. He was so knowledgeable and really knew his stuff. He took us to different scenic spots along the way, making the journey just as memorable as the dive itself. When we arrived, the staff were lovely and made us feel completely safe and comfortable. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests and want everyone to have the best experience possible. Before the dive we were given a nice breakfast snack, and when we got back to the place where we set off from, they surprised us again with a hot, delicious vegetable soup. After being in the cold water, that soup was such a perfect touch. And because it was my birthday, they made the whole day extra special by giving me a bottle of champagne so I could celebrate with everyone after the dive. It meant so much and just added to what was already an incredible day. The dive itself was unbelievable. Seeing sharks up close in their world was everything I had ever hoped for. It was wicked, exciting, and genuinely life-changing. I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday or a better experience. It was the best day ever, and I would recommend this to absolutely anyone. If you’ve ever thought about shark diving, do it — you won’t regret it!!! Thank you for making the day so special and an unreal experience ❤️Posted on Xola KetsiweTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. So well organised and felt totally safe!! Incredible experience to be in the water with so many sharks- weather and viewing conditions were 100%. The boat was really great and all the instructors/guides were super friendly and helpful. Great communication as well in the days before the trip which was appreciated. Many many thanksPosted on D.v.R Male ModelTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great tour! Amazing staff! Excellent value for money! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to do shark cage diving in Gansbaai. We arranged to be picked up and dropped off at our accommodation all the way in Durbanville. Upon arrival in Gansbaai, we had breakfast, got geared up with wetsuits, received a safety briefing, and were divided into two groups of six people each. After a quick 10-minute boat ride, we reached the shark cage diving location. Each group was given ample time in the cage, allowing us to see the sharks up close—some even bumped into the cage! We also had plenty of time to take photos and videos underwater. The staff never rushed us. In fact, during the briefing, they explained that their goal is to ensure everyone has a thorough experience, even if it means one group takes a bit longer than the other. Bottled water and snacks were available onboard throughout the trip. The staff also recorded a video, which was available for purchase after the tour—great for those without underwater cameras. We didn’t see any Great White Sharks, as we were informed that their numbers have decreased in recent years due to aggressive behavior from Orcas. However, we did see many Bronze Whaler Sharks, a stingray, and a very playful seal. On the boat ride back, we even spotted dolphins and whales with their calves. The staff was incredibly informative and knowledgeable, answering all our questions. After approximately two hours at sea, we returned to the harbor, where we were provided with towels, soap, and shampoo to take hot showers. Once freshened up, we helped ourselves to vegetable soup, freshly baked bread, and a selection of hot beverages and juice. To top off an already wonderful experience, it was also my friend’s birthday. The staff arranged for all the participants to sing for him and gifted him a bottle of champagne, which was a really kind gesture. Overall, it was an amazing experience.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
